How it started.

When I purchased my home - a 1955 MCM ranch - I wanted to celebrate it with a piece of artwork. But most everything I found was a pastel-y watercolor. Not exactly befit of the home's period or architectural character. So, I made my own. Clean. Simple. Strong lines and playful pops of color.

This is how House Logos began.

Since then, I've worked with thousands of homeowners across the world to create House Logos of current homes, childhood homes, vacation homes, and homes still being built. I’ve worked with realtors, builders, and architectural firms wanting to give their client a truly unique gift. And we've worked with AirBNB hosts to uniquely brand and market their properties.

This has been a joyful collision of two of my favorite things - design and architecture. And I’m so grateful for everyone who has given me the opportunity to work on their home.

The Logos.

Strong lines. Playful pops of color. A minimal style derived from the simple, timeless MCM homes I often work on. Every logo is made from scratch by me. No AI. No robots. I get to work immediately and have something ready to share in a few days. I’ve made over 1,500 House Logos and it’s always amazed me how the same principles can yield so many different, beautiful results.

The Prints.

All framing is done in a 12x12 black metal frame of 8x8 art. Glass pane. Matted. Printed on 82lb archival grade velvet art paper. Ready to hang upon arrival. I find tons of joy in the tactile part of the process. Putting exacto blade to heavy weight paper never gets old.

The Book.

When we moved into our house, and saw our kids spark to its unique architectural character, my wife had an idea to write a kid’s book about architecture. She wanted to bring some literal color and playfulness to an otherwise stuffy subject. But it was just a desire.

Then we started House Logos and suddenly we had an illustrator. Us!
But we still didn’t have a concept for the book …

We were on a road trip and started passing the time by naming unique houses in the order of the alphabet. We started with “A is for A Frame” … and after playing for a bit … it dawned on us …

“That’s it! That’s the book!”

We quickly began building our alphabet. After some tricky letters, and countless hours of design and writing, “The ABCs of Architecture” was born.

It is currently sold in boutique children stores, vintage shops, furniture stores, art museums, and the gift shop of The Farnsworth House, Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio, and the Alden B. Dow Studio.
